To most that means a rite of passage into......adulthood? professionalism? being old? At any rate, it sets us reflecting on what in the world we have done with the first third of our life. <div><br /></div><div>Recently, and partially set in course by Jill's brilliant post from the past, I have been musing about what exactly the last 12 years has done to our particular group of 'adults' cast in this world. What has become of us? I haven't yet seen Elaine as the President, but I am certain she has reached some potential of a person that I had never guessed possible. What has become of the big dreams and the iron clad plans? How many have we followed through with? How many have we 'grown out of'? </div><div><br /></div><div>What's really cool about all these musings is actually having a peek and what potential has actually been reached. You'll see me lurking, and I generally try to leave comments so you know I am not trying to destroy you covertly, through the links on this web page. In all truth - I am shocked and amazed at who you all have become!! Downright shocked!! And delightfully so. </div><div><br /></div><div>Among our ranks there are multiple advanced educational degrees. There have been some radical changes in some and some fantastic evolutions in others. Tons of the hidden gems of our class have now come to the sparkling for-front with those talents that may have made you odd in the old days. Heaven knows I have just began to search into the accomplishments of a class of 343. </div><div><br /></div><div>In short - CONGRATULATIONS! and WELL DONE! turning 30 hasn't looked so bad on most of us. Can't wait to see what another decade will do to us all!</div>Nancyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06204838018756030003noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3413560008926502740.post-90327072933679049442012-03-19T09:26:00.000-07:002012-03-19T09:26:25.420-07:002015 From Mrs. McRae's ClassroomI put this up on my personal blog (<a href="http://jillerbreport.blogspot.com/">http://jillerbreport.blogspot.com</a>) But i thought it may interest those of you who went to MMS. I recently found a portfolio I put together for Mrs. McRae's Language Arts class (7th grade). I had to write about my life then and my predictions for life 20 year later. It hasn't quite been 20 years, but it is safe to say that most of my predictions have failed to materialize.<br />
<br />
Disclaimer: I did not edit my 7th grade spelling and grammar, so don't judge me. Also, I'm aware that April 31, 2015 will probably never come, but apparently there was an aberration in the calendar in 1995. ;-)<br />
<br />
I'm pretty sure I still got an A. <br />
<br />
Enjoy. If anyone else comes across their future predictions let me know and we'll post it here!<br />

What do you remember most about High School? A class? A dance? An event? Let's hear it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3413560008926502740.post-991661751726944222012-01-24T19:21:00.000-08:002012-01-24T19:21:43.253-08:00So I just realized that there were a whopping two posts on this blog in 2011. Wow, pitiful.<br />
<br />
There are a few of you out there with author rights on the blog, I'm sure that people who check the blog would love to hear from somebody, anybody more than twice a year. I'll try to do my part to help things along. If you don't have author rights but would like to have them, leave a comment.<br />
<br />

Jessica was born Nov. 9, 1981, in Rexburg, the daughter of Darla (Muir) and Everett Parks Wilson, Jr.</div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
She attended Madison district schools and was a member of the 2000 Madison High School graduating class. She served an LDS Mission to the Baltics, after which she attended Brigham Young University in Provo, receiving her B.S. degree in social work August 2009. Jessica became a licensed social service worker for the state of Utah in November 2009. She was employed by the Wasatch Mental Health in December 2009 and worked there until her death.</div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
Jessica enjoyed helping people, an excerpt from her journal dated September 30, 2007, reads: "I'm gonna be a social worker! Woo-hoo! Do you know why? Because I am a teacher & I love to help people - it brings me joy."</div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
Jessica was an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with her. She never prejudged anyone always being accepted on their own merits. She was a talented artist, an avid reader, loved to play sports with friends and was a runner. Jessica completed several marathons, Ragnar relay races and was a member of the ATK Run Club. She also loved to cook and would make new desserts for friends every weekend. </div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> </div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a teacher in Primary, Relief Society, and currently a gospel doctrine teacher.</div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
She is survived by her parents of Rexburg, Idaho; two grandmothers, Eloise Muir of Rexburg and Leanora K. Wilson, of Clearfield, Utah; four sisters, Genevieve R. Wilson of Draper, Utah, Crystal V. Brantner (Russell) of Tremonton Utah, Amber L. Kent (Daniel) of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Stacy R. Wilson of Ogden, Utah; four brothers, Everett P. Wilson III (Jessica J. Weeks) of Ammon, Michael C. Wilson (Estee Forbush) of Logan, Utah, Jeremiah C. Wilson of Sandy, Utah, and James P. Wilson of Layton; three nephews and six nieces.</div><div class="clearfix" id="obitText" style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Stonebridge LDS Chapel with Bishop Kirk Widdison officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Police say Jessica Wilson, 28, and a friend were crossing North Campus Drive between 500 and 600 East near the bell tower around 8 p.m. Sunday when they were struck by a car driving west.<br />
<br />
"A 27-year-old male got distracted and didn't see them and hit them both," said BYU police Lt. Arnold Lemmon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
Lemmon said the man was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima in the inside westbound lane. Two witnesses at the scene said the man had a green light, Lemmon said, but police are still investigating the incident. He said alcohol and drugs are not factors in the accident. The sun had gone down at the time of the accident, but Lemmon said there was still some ambient light.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Lemmon said Wilson suffered head trauma and was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center within minutes, where she was later pronounced dead. The second woman, whose name has not been released, was also transported to the hospital with a possible compound fracture to her leg.<br />
<br />
"She is in critical condition awaiting multiple surgeries," he said.<br />
<br />
The woman is a friend of Wilson who was visiting from out of the country, Lemmon said. Although she is still in critical condition, she is expected to survive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Wilson's family said the friend is from Estonia, where Wilson served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has been in the country for a few weeks and was to return home in October.<br />
<br />
Everett Wilson, Jessica Wilson's father, said Wilson worked as a social worker at Wasatch Mental Health after graduating from BYU in August 2009.<br />
<br />
"She really loved her job," he said.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Everett Wilson said his daughter enjoyed helping people at Wasatch and wanted to get a master's degree someday, but she wanted to get the degree online so that she would not have to leave her job.<br />
<br />
The family said Wilson loved to help others, and they provided an excerpt from her journal from when she entered the social work program.<br />
<br />
"I'm gonna be a social worker! Woohoo!" she wrote. "Do you know why? Because I am a teacher, and I love to help people -- it brings me joy."<br />
<br />
Darla Wilson, Jessica Wilson's mother, said her daughter's love for others was genuine. Jessica Wilson loved life, and she tried to help everybody love life, her mother said.<br />
<br />
Jessica Wilson took karate, debate and was a member of Future Farmers of America when she was young -- mostly to meet others, her mother said. She did not try to be the center of attention, but she loved people and naturally drew them to her.<br />
<br />
"She was never in one spot very long before everybody knew her," Darla Wilson said.<br />
<br />
Jessica Wilson was also an avid marathoner and completed several. She was signed up to run a relay in Las Vegas next month. Though Wilson grew up in Rexburg, Idaho, she fell in love with Utah Valley and its mountains and wanted to stay in the area.<br />
<br />
Wilson's family said she inspired others, and Everett Wilson said several friends were at the hospital Sunday evening when they heard the news. Her mother said several people said Wilson was "the most perfect and spiritual person they've ever met."<br />
<br />
Though the accident has been hard on the family, Everett Wilson said his daughter would not want them to mourn. He said if she were still here, she would be much more concerned about her family than herself.<br />
<br />
Amber Kent, Jessica Wilson's sister, said the family is planning to hold a funeral for Jessica on Saturday, Sept. 25 in Rexburg, Idaho. Some of Jessica Wilson's friends are considering a 5K fund raiser to help pay for the funeral, and Kent said there may be a memorial service in Utah County when the 5K is held.<br />

</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">REXBURG - Hundreds of students and volunteers are in the process of moving materials from the old high school into the new one. The new Madison High School is expected to be open in August and be ready for the upcoming school year.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Students will have a bit of ownership in the new high school, and that's exactly what administrators want.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It's no secret that there's rapid growth in Madison County and the new high school will help with over crowding.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">"A lot of money that they put into this building, and it all came from this community, and it all means a lot. My last classroom was a makeshift classroom up in the old weightroom," said Dave Reeser, a history teacher at the high school.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The new school is state of the art in every respect, right down to electronically locking doors controllable from the office.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">"This is a tremendous opportunity for our youth and for the community. This will serve as an educational hub for decades to come," said superintendent Geoffrey Thomas.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It's a group effort as hundreds of kids are are here to help move stuff in.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">And it isn't just excitement for the incoming high school students. The old high school will be the new junior high, so it's an upgrade for many in Madison County.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Classes begin Wednesday, and although there are still some organizational and housekeeping issues, construction on the campus is nearly complete.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">"We are ready and good to go," said Principal Rodger Hampton. "All of the instructional areas are ready to go."</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The only major construction that remains is the new 1,200-seat, acoustically designed auditorium, which sports a more than 60-foot stage and a large orchestra pit. The school is waiting on a large shipment of seats before the project can be complete, hopefully by mid-October.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Hampton said that overall he's very pleased with the school.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">"It's been done right," he said. "It was designed for the needs of the community - the arts, vocational, academics and P.E. have all been planned for."</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The high school site is made up of three main buildings.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The main high school contains two gymnasiums, classrooms for the arts and academics, science labs, computer labs, a media center/library, the auditorium, locker rooms, counseling center, school office, band/orchestra/choir rooms and a cafeteria or commons area.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">All of the school's 1,450 lockers are also in this building.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The 25,000-square-foot vocational building holds shops for welding, auto body, small engine repair, a lab for aquaculture, agriculture and shops for woodworking and computer drafting. The building also includes a lab for horticulture. Greenhouses and orchards are to be planted behind the vocational building.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The third building on the site is a release-time seminary building, which was constructed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">A significant area has been designated for further growth, including the eventual addition of a football stadium and other athletic courts. The school is also designed for future academic additions.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The parking lot now has 450 spaces allotted for students, up from 375 spaces in the old high school. There are also 70 spaces for faculty and staff.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Much of the design of the campus came from faculty feedback.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">"We worked with the staff closely," said Brent McFarland, the project architect with JRW Associates. "Once we had that component, the design and planning went very well. I am very pleased with the overall project - the quality of the work is very high."</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The entire project was budgeted at $48.1 million - most of which was to be obtained through a $40.5 million and a $19.5 million school bond, the latter of which was passed by voters in November 2008.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The bonds also went toward the construction of the South Fork and Burton Elementary Schools.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">District Business Manager Varr Snedaker said the project looks to be well under budget with only about $37 million spent since the end of June, although expenses will continue to be accrued until the project is completely finished.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">During a tour of the building, Superintendent Geoffrey Thomas said that the greatest emotion he feels about the construction is gratitude.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">"It's a challenging thing to get a two-thirds of the community to tax themselves voluntarily to pay for a high school and elementary schools," said Thomas. "I'm very grateful for that. It's a wonderful thing."</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">An open house for the building will be scheduled once the auditorium is complete.</div><hr style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;" /><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><strong>About the school</strong></div><ul style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><li>225,000 square feet (up from 160,000 square feet),</li>

The Marshall-Spreiers are a family of breakouts with a passion for singing and a true love of the performing arts. A single mother of nine, Jane Marshall braved a courageous battle with breast cancer 2 years ago.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">During her recovery, a faulty dryer vent resulted in a fire that ravaged the family home. The house was left uninhabitable and Jane was forced to use her insurance money to seek out alternative living arrangements.</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Now the money has run out and they are doing everything they can to stay positive despite half the family living in a one-bedroom cottage and the other half living in friend’s motor home. </div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">When Jane discovered she had cancer, the eight children living at the broken down home became warriors in their own right. Her 18-year-old son stepped up to the plate and challenged himself to hold his family together. At the time, Noah realized he would need to put his education on hold until his mother finished out her treatments. Sophie (18), Ruth Anne (17), Daniel (15), Elizabeth (14), Elijah (12), Isabelle (9), and Kate (9) have all had to grow up at fast, but they still remain positive and strive to achieve their dreams. Even during these difficult times, Jane tries to lead by example. She encourages the children to laugh, play and not give up on life. As a family they also celebrate the human spirit by finding ways to give back to the community (anonymously). </div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">The Marshall-Spreiers family’s luck is about to change, and they are finally getting something they deserve. </div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">On August 18th, the Extreme Makeover Home Edition Team arrived to fine tune their living arrangements. The shell of their burned out 2,000 square foot home is about to be demolished so they can enjoy their love of music that binds them together. In just seven days, the family will be able to begin a whole new composition. The Marshall-Spreiers will go on vacation to Key West, while “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team leader Ty Pennington, designers Jillian Harris, Paul DiMeo and Ed Sanders, local builder Rockwell Development, and community volunteers rebuild the structure. The location address is: 243 South 8th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83201</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">ABC’s Emmy-winning hit show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will be selecting one of five families in Southeast Idaho to be featured on it’s award winning show that helps change the lives of families and inspires remarkable community support.
